Meet Gene Gauthier - Executive Advisor
How did you first join the company, and what attracted you to it at the time?
I was working for Mullin Corporation when the company went out of business. John Breen and Bob Sullivan purchased the assets and started Breen & Sullivan. Having worked with Bob for 14 years and John for 12 years, I trusted their leadership and felt it was the right decision to continue my career with them. It gave me the opportunity to keep building on the relationships and experience I had developed over the years.
What was your first role here, and how has your career grown over the years?
I started as the company's Sheet Metal Supervisor and Estimator. At the time, we had a small sheet metal team of about five field employees. As the company grew, so did the department and my responsibilities. One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been helping train and mentor new employees, sharing the knowledge I gained from my 10 years in the field and helping others develop their skills and advance in their careers.
What is one milestone or accomplishment you're especially proud of?
I'm proud to have spent 33 years with the same company and to still work with some customers whose relationships date back to my days at Mullin Corporation. I'm also proud of the people I've mentored over the years. Seeing employees learn, grow, and move into leadership positions is incredibly rewarding and makes the time invested in teaching others worthwhile.
How would you describe the company culture to someone who has never worked here?
Breen & Sullivan is full of hardworking, knowledgeable people who genuinely want to help others succeed. There is a strong culture of learning, mentorship, and teamwork. If you're willing to work hard, continue learning, and take initiative, there are opportunities here to build a successful career and grow into leadership roles.
What keeps you committed to being part of this organization?
The people. After more than three decades, Breen & Sullivan feels like a second family. I've built lasting relationships with coworkers who have supported me through both professional and personal challenges. The respect I've received throughout my career and the opportunity to work alongside great people are what continue to make this a special place to be.

Meet Dan Liberge - Field Service Supervisor
How did you first join the company, and what attracted you to it at the time?
I joined Breen & Sullivan through a co-op program with Essex Technical High School. At the time, the shop was close to home, and I was excited for the opportunity to learn the service side of the HVAC industry while still in school.
What was your first role here, and how has your career grown over the years?
I started as a part-time HVAC apprentice through the co-op program and transitioned to full-time employment immediately after graduation. Over the years, I've progressed from apprentice to technician and now serve as a Field Supervisor. Along the way, I've gained valuable experience working on a wide variety of equipment, projects, and job sites that have helped shape my career.
What is one milestone or accomplishment you're especially proud of?
One of my proudest accomplishments was earning my Refrigeration Technician license. The requirements changed several times while I was working toward it, creating additional challenges along the way, but I stayed committed to the goal and was proud to ultimately achieve it.
How would you describe the company culture to someone who has never worked here?
Breen & Sullivan has always had a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork. From the field personnel to the office staff, there is a family-oriented atmosphere where people support one another and are always willing to lend a hand when needed.
What keeps you committed to being part of this organization?
The variety of work is a big reason I've enjoyed my career here. Every day presents new opportunities to learn, solve problems, and work with different equipment and customers. Just as important are the people. The relationships I've built over the years and the support of my teammates are what make Breen & Sullivan such a great place to work.
